রাতের আকাশে তারারা মিটমিট করে জ্বলে। কোনো তারা খুব উজ্জ্বল, কোনোটা ছোট্ট। নবীদের কথাও খানিকটা এমন। কুরআনে কোনো কোনো নবীর অনেক ঘটনা আছে, আবার কারও কথা এসেছে অল্প কয়েকটি শব্দে। কিন্তু সেই অল্প কথাগুলোও তারার মতোই আলো ছড়ায়। এমনই একজন নবী হলেন ইদ্রিস (আ.)।
At night the stars twinkle in the sky. Some are very bright, some are tiny. The stories of the prophets are a little like that. The Qur'an tells many events from the lives of some prophets, while others are mentioned in just a few words. But even those few words shine like stars. One such prophet is Idris (peace be upon him).
সুরা মারইয়ামে আল্লাহ বলেছেন, “এই কিতাবে ইদ্রিসের কথা স্মরণ করো। তিনি ছিলেন সত্যনিষ্ঠ, একজন নবী। আর আমি তাঁকে উচ্চ মর্যাদায় উন্নীত করেছিলাম।” (সুরা মারইয়াম ১৯:৫৬–৫৭)
In Surah Maryam, Allah says: “Mention in the Book Idris. He was a man of truth, a prophet. And We raised him to a high station.” (Qur'an 19:56–57)
সুরা আম্বিয়ায় আল্লাহ ইসমাঈল, ইদ্রিস ও জুলকিফল (আ.)-এর নাম একসঙ্গে উল্লেখ করে বলেছেন, তাঁরা সবাই ছিলেন ধৈর্যশীল। আল্লাহ তাঁদের নিজের রহমতের মধ্যে প্রবেশ করিয়েছেন, আর তাঁরা ছিলেন সৎকর্মশীলদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত। (সুরা আম্বিয়া ২১:৮৫–৮৬)
In Surah Al-Anbiya, Allah names Ismail, Idris and Dhul-Kifl together and says that all of them were patient. Allah admitted them into His mercy, and they were among the righteous. (Qur'an 21:85–86)
সহিহ হাদিসে আছে, মিরাজের রাতে আমাদের প্রিয় নবী মুহাম্মাদ ﷺ চতুর্থ আসমানে ইদ্রিস (আ.)-এর দেখা পেয়েছিলেন। ইদ্রিস (আ.) তাঁকে সালাম ও শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়ে বলেছিলেন, “স্বাগতম, হে সৎ ভাই ও সৎ নবী!” (সহিহ বুখারি ও মুসলিম)
An authentic hadith tells us that on the night of the Mi'raj, our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ met Idris (peace be upon him) in the fourth heaven. Idris greeted him warmly and said, “Welcome, O righteous brother and righteous prophet!” (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)
ইদ্রিস (আ.) কোথায় থাকতেন, কী কী ঘটনা ঘটেছিল—কুরআনে সেসব বলা হয়নি। তাই আমরা বানিয়ে কিছু বলব না। কিন্তু আল্লাহ তাঁর সম্পর্কে যা বলেছেন, তাতেই অনেক কিছু জানা যায়: তিনি ছিলেন সত্যবাদী, ধৈর্যশীল আর সৎকর্মশীল, আর আল্লাহ তাঁকে দিয়েছিলেন অনেক উঁচু সম্মান।
The Qur'an does not tell us where Idris lived or what events happened in his life, so we will not make anything up. But what Allah has told us about him says a great deal: he was truthful, patient and righteous, and Allah gave him a very high honour.
আমরা নবী নই, কিন্তু ইদ্রিস (আ.)-এর গুণগুলো আমরাও চর্চা করতে পারি। সবসময় সত্য কথা বলা, কষ্টে ধৈর্য ধরা আর ভালো কাজ করা—এগুলোই মানুষকে আল্লাহর কাছে প্রিয় করে তোলে। রাতের আকাশে উজ্জ্বল তারা দেখলে মনে রেখো, ছোট্ট একটা সত্য কথাও অনেক দূর পর্যন্ত আলো ছড়াতে পারে।
We are not prophets, but we can practise the qualities of Idris (peace be upon him). Always telling the truth, being patient in hard times and doing good deeds are what make a person beloved to Allah. When you see a bright star in the night sky, remember that even one small truthful word can spread light very far.
