অনেক অনেক কাল আগে নূহ (আ.)-এর জাতির মানুষেরা আল্লাহকে ভুলে গিয়ে মূর্তির পূজা করত, আর নানা অন্যায় কাজে ডুবে ছিল। আল্লাহ তাদের সঠিক পথ দেখাতে নূহ (আ.)-কে নবী করে পাঠালেন।
Long, long ago, the people of Nuh (AS) forgot Allah. They worshipped idols and were lost in many kinds of wrongdoing. To guide them to the right path, Allah sent Nuh (AS) to them as a prophet.
নূহ (আ.) মানুষকে ডেকে বললেন, “হে আমার জাতি, আল্লাহর ইবাদত করো; তিনি ছাড়া তোমাদের আর কোনো উপাস্য নেই।” তিনি তাদের রাতে ডাকলেন, দিনে ডাকলেন; কখনো প্রকাশ্যে, কখনো একান্তে বোঝালেন। বললেন, আল্লাহর কাছে ক্ষমা চাইলে তিনি আকাশ থেকে বৃষ্টি পাঠাবেন, বাগান আর নদী দিয়ে জীবন ভরিয়ে দেবেন। এভাবে তিনি সাড়ে নয়শো বছর ধরে তাঁর জাতির মাঝে থেকে ধৈর্য ধরে দাওয়াত দিলেন।
Nuh (AS) called out to them: “O my people, worship Allah; you have no god other than Him.” He called them by night and by day; sometimes openly, sometimes in private. He told them that if they asked Allah for forgiveness, He would send rain from the sky and fill their lives with gardens and rivers. In this way he lived among his people for nine hundred and fifty years, patiently inviting them to the truth.
কিন্তু বেশির ভাগ মানুষ শুনতেই চাইল না। কেউ কেউ কানে আঙুল দিত, কাপড় দিয়ে মুখ ঢেকে ফেলত। নেতারা ঠাট্টা করে বলত, “তুমি তো আমাদের মতোই একজন মানুষ! আর তোমার কথা মানে শুধু আমাদের মধ্যে সাধারণ লোকেরা।” খুব অল্প কয়েকজনই ঈমান আনল। তবু নূহ (আ.) দায়িত্ব ছেড়ে দিলেন না।
But most of them did not want to listen. Some put their fingers in their ears and covered their faces with their clothes. The leaders mocked him: “You are only a man like us! And the only ones who follow you are the humblest among us.” Only a few believed. Still, Nuh (AS) did not give up his duty.
তারপর আল্লাহ নূহ (আ.)-কে জানালেন, যারা ঈমান এনেছে তারা ছাড়া আর কেউ ঈমান আনবে না। আল্লাহ তাঁকে নির্দেশ দিলেন তাঁর তত্ত্বাবধানে আর তাঁর শেখানো উপায়ে একটি নৌকা তৈরি করতে। নূহ (আ.) কাঠের তক্তা আর পেরেক জোগাড় করে কাজ শুরু করলেন। ঠকঠক, ঠকঠক—দিনের পর দিন হাতুড়ির শব্দ শোনা যেতে লাগল।
Then Allah told Nuh (AS) that no one else would believe except those who already had. Allah commanded him to build an ark under His watch and by His guidance. Nuh (AS) gathered wooden planks and nails and began to work. Knock, knock, knock—day after day, the sound of hammering rang out.
শুকনো মাটির ওপর এত বড় নৌকা দেখে জাতির নেতারা যখনই পাশ দিয়ে যেত, হাসাহাসি করত। কিন্তু নূহ (আ.) রাগ করে কাজ থামালেন না। তিনি ধৈর্য ধরে আল্লাহর হুকুম মেনে নৌকা বানাতেই থাকলেন।
Seeing such a huge boat on dry land, the leaders of his people laughed every time they walked past. But Nuh (AS) did not stop in anger. He kept building patiently, obeying Allah’s command.
অবশেষে আল্লাহর নির্ধারিত সময় এল। আল্লাহর নির্দেশে নূহ (আ.) প্রত্যেক ধরনের প্রাণীর এক এক জোড়া নৌকায় তুললেন, আর তুললেন তাঁর পরিবারের বিশ্বাসী সদস্যদের ও অন্য বিশ্বাসীদের। নূহ (আ.) বললেন, “এতে আরোহণ করো। আল্লাহর নামেই এর চলা আর থামা।”
At last, the time Allah had decreed arrived. By Allah’s command, Nuh (AS) brought aboard a pair of every kind of animal, the believing members of his family, and the other believers. Nuh (AS) said, “Board it. In the name of Allah it sails and in His name it comes to rest.”
তারপর আকাশের দরজা খুলে গেল, ঝমঝম করে নামল মুষলধারে বৃষ্টি। মাটি ফুঁড়ে বেরিয়ে এল ঝরনার পানি। চারদিকে পানি আর পানি, ঢেউ উঠল পাহাড়ের মতো উঁচু হয়ে। আর সেই ঢেউয়ের মধ্যে আল্লাহর হেফাজতে নৌকাটি ভেসে চলল। যারা বারবার সত্যকে অস্বীকার করেছিল, তারা সেই প্লাবন থেকে রক্ষা পেল না।
Then the gates of the sky opened, and heavy rain poured down. Springs burst out of the ground. There was water everywhere, and waves rose as high as mountains. Among those waves, the ark sailed on under Allah’s protection. Those who had rejected the truth again and again were not saved from the flood.
একসময় আল্লাহর হুকুম এল—পৃথিবী তার পানি শুষে নিল, আকাশ থেমে গেল। নৌকাটি জুদি পাহাড়ের ওপর এসে থামল। আল্লাহ বললেন, “হে নূহ, আমার পক্ষ থেকে শান্তি ও বরকত নিয়ে নেমে এসো।” বিশ্বাসীরা ভেজা মাটিতে পা রাখলেন, শুরু হলো নতুন জীবন।
Then Allah’s command came—the earth swallowed its water, and the sky held back its rain. The ark came to rest on Mount Judi. Allah said, “O Nuh, come down with peace and blessings from Us.” The believers stepped onto the damp ground, and a new life began.
মানুষ হাসলেও সঠিক কাজ ছেড়ে দিতে নেই। ধৈর্য ধরে আল্লাহর ওপর ভরসা রেখে দায়িত্ব পালন করলে আল্লাহ রক্ষা করেন।
Even when others laugh, we should not give up doing what is right. When we carry out our duties patiently and trust in Allah, He protects us.
