অনেক অনেক আগে, যখন পৃথিবীতে কোনো মানুষ ছিল না, আল্লাহ ফেরেশতাদের জানালেন যে তিনি পৃথিবীতে একজন প্রতিনিধি সৃষ্টি করবেন। তারপর আল্লাহ মাটি থেকে আদম (আ.)-কে সৃষ্টি করলেন। তিনিই প্রথম মানুষ।
Long, long ago, before there were any people on earth, Allah told the angels that He would place a successor on the earth. Then Allah created Adam (AS) from clay. He was the very first human being.
আল্লাহ আদম (আ.)-কে সব জিনিসের নাম শিখিয়ে দিলেন। ফেরেশতারা সেই নামগুলো জানতেন না, কিন্তু আল্লাহর হুকুমে আদম (আ.) একে একে সব নাম বলে দিলেন। তারপর আল্লাহ ফেরেশতাদের আদম (আ.)-কে সিজদা করতে বললেন। সবাই সিজদা করলেন, শুধু ইবলিস করল না। সে অহংকার করে বলল, সে আদমের চেয়ে উত্তম, কারণ তাকে আগুন থেকে আর আদমকে মাটি থেকে সৃষ্টি করা হয়েছে।
Allah taught Adam (AS) the names of all things. The angels did not know these names, but by Allah’s command Adam (AS) told them every one. Then Allah told the angels to bow down to Adam (AS). They all bowed, except Iblis. Full of pride, he claimed he was better than Adam, because he had been made from fire and Adam from clay.
আল্লাহ আদম (আ.) ও তাঁর স্ত্রী হাওয়া (আ.)-কে জান্নাতে থাকতে দিলেন। সেখানে কোনো ক্ষুধা ছিল না, তৃষ্ণা ছিল না, রোদের তাপও ছিল না। আল্লাহ বললেন, “তোমরা এখানে যা খুশি তৃপ্তি ভরে খাও, কিন্তু এই গাছটির কাছে যেয়ো না।” তিনি এ-ও সাবধান করলেন যে শয়তান তাঁদের শত্রু।
Allah let Adam (AS) and his wife Hawa (AS) live in Paradise. There they would never be hungry or thirsty, and the hot sun would never trouble them. Allah said, “Eat freely of whatever you like here, but do not go near this tree.” He also warned them that Shaytan was their enemy.
কিন্তু শয়তান কুমন্ত্রণা দিতে লাগল। সে বলল, এই গাছের ফল খেলে চিরকাল থাকা যাবে, এমন রাজত্ব পাওয়া যাবে যা কখনো শেষ হবে না। সে কসম খেয়ে বলল, “আমি তো তোমাদের ভালোই চাই।” একই কথা সে বারবার বলতেই থাকল।
But Shaytan began to whisper to them. He said that if they ate from this tree, they would live forever and have a kingdom that would never end. He swore to them, “I am only giving you good advice.” He kept repeating the same words again and again.
একসময় আদম (আ.) ও হাওয়া (আ.) আল্লাহর নিষেধের কথা ভুলে গিয়ে সেই গাছের ফল খেয়ে ফেললেন। সঙ্গে সঙ্গে তাঁরা বুঝলেন, ভুল হয়ে গেছে। লজ্জায় তাঁরা জান্নাতের গাছের পাতা দিয়ে নিজেদের ঢাকতে লাগলেন।
In the end, Adam (AS) and Hawa (AS) forgot Allah’s warning and ate from the tree. At once they knew they had made a mistake. Feeling ashamed, they began to cover themselves with leaves from the garden.
তাঁরা নিজেদের ভুল অন্য কারও ওপর চাপালেন না। আল্লাহ আদম (আ.)-কে কিছু বাক্য শিখিয়ে দিলেন, আর তাঁরা দুজনে কাতর হয়ে দোয়া করলেন, “হে আমাদের রব, আমরা নিজেদের ওপর অন্যায় করেছি। আপনি যদি আমাদের ক্ষমা না করেন এবং দয়া না করেন, তবে আমরা অবশ্যই ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হব।” আল্লাহ তাঁদের তওবা কবুল করলেন। তিনি তো তওবা কবুলকারী, পরম দয়ালু।
They did not blame anyone else for their mistake. Allah taught Adam (AS) words of repentance, and together they prayed with all their hearts: “Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will surely be among the losers.” Allah accepted their repentance. He is the One who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.
তারপর আল্লাহর নির্দেশে তাঁরা পৃথিবীতে এলেন। আল্লাহ জানালেন, তাঁর পক্ষ থেকে মানুষের কাছে পথনির্দেশ আসবে; যারা সেই পথ মেনে চলবে, তাদের কোনো ভয় থাকবে না, তারা দুঃখও পাবে না। এভাবে পৃথিবীতে মানুষের জীবন শুরু হলো—কাজ, দায়িত্ব, পরিবার আর সঠিক পথ বেছে নেওয়ার পরীক্ষা নিয়ে।
Then, by Allah’s command, they came down to the earth. Allah told them that guidance would come to people from Him, and whoever followed it would have no fear and would not grieve. And so human life on earth began—with work, responsibility, family, and the test of choosing the right path.
মানুষ ভুল করতে পারে। কিন্তু ভুল বুঝে নিজের দোষ স্বীকার করে আন্তরিকভাবে আল্লাহর কাছে ফিরে এলে, তাঁর ক্ষমার দরজা সব সময় খোলা থাকে।
People can make mistakes. But when we understand our mistake, admit it, and sincerely turn back to Allah, the door of His forgiveness is always open.
