মক্কার ব্যস্ত বাজারে উটের কাফেলা আসত-যেত—ঝুনঝুন করে বাজত উটের গলার ঘণ্টা, বাতাসে ভাসত মসলা আর সুগন্ধির ঘ্রাণ। এই শহরেরই একজন সম্মানিত ব্যবসায়ী ছিলেন খাদিজা (রা.)। তিনি বুদ্ধিমত্তা ও দায়িত্বের সঙ্গে নিজের ব্যবসা পরিচালনা করতেন। তাঁর কাফেলা দূর দেশে পণ্য নিয়ে যেত, আর সৎ ও বিশ্বস্ত মানুষ খুঁজে তিনি তাদের হাতে কাজের ভার দিতেন।
Camel caravans came and went in the busy markets of Makkah—the camels’ bells jingled, and the air smelled of spices and perfume. In this city lived Khadija (RA), a respected merchant. She ran her business with intelligence and responsibility. Her caravans carried goods to faraway lands, and she looked for honest, trustworthy people to whom she could give the work.
সীরাতে বর্ণিত আছে, তরুণ মুহাম্মদ (সা.) তখন সবার কাছে ‘আল-আমিন’, অর্থাৎ বিশ্বস্ত নামে পরিচিত। খাদিজা (রা.) তাঁকে নিজের পণ্য নিয়ে সিরিয়ায় ব্যবসা করতে পাঠান। ফিরে আসার পর তাঁর সততা ও সুন্দর আচরণের কথা শুনে খাদিজা (রা.) মুগ্ধ হন, এবং পরে তাঁদের বিয়ে হয়। পরিবার ও কাজ—দুই ক্ষেত্রেই খাদিজা (রা.)-এর স্থিরতা ও বিচক্ষণতা তাঁকে বিশেষ মর্যাদা দিয়েছিল।
The seerah tells that the young Muhammad (peace be upon him) was known to everyone as ‘al-Amin’, the trustworthy one. Khadija sent him to Syria to trade with her goods. When he returned, she heard of his honesty and fine conduct and was deeply impressed, and later they married. In both family life and work, her steadiness and wisdom earned her great respect.
বহু বছর পর একদিন হেরা গুহায় নবীজি (সা.)-এর কাছে প্রথম ওহি এল। এই অভিজ্ঞতায় তিনি ভীষণ উদ্বিগ্ন হয়ে কাঁপতে কাঁপতে ঘরে ফিরলেন এবং বললেন, তাঁকে যেন চাদর দিয়ে ঢেকে দেওয়া হয়। খাদিজা (রা.) তাড়াতাড়ি তাঁকে চাদরে জড়িয়ে দিলেন, পাশে বসে রইলেন, যতক্ষণ না তাঁর ভয় কমে।
Many years later, in the cave of Hira, the first revelation came to the Prophet. Deeply shaken by the experience, he returned home trembling and asked to be wrapped up in a cloak. Khadija quickly wrapped him and stayed beside him until his fear eased.
তারপর খাদিজা (রা.) নরম কিন্তু দৃঢ় গলায় তাঁকে সাহস দিলেন। তিনি বললেন, আল্লাহ কখনও তাঁকে অপমানিত করবেন না; কারণ তিনি আত্মীয়দের সঙ্গে সম্পর্ক রক্ষা করেন, দুর্বলের বোঝা বহন করেন, অভাবীকে সাহায্য করেন, অতিথির সম্মান করেন এবং বিপদে মানুষের পাশে দাঁড়ান। এরপর তিনি নবীজি (সা.)-কে নিয়ে গেলেন নিজের জ্ঞানী চাচাতো ভাই ওয়ারাকা ইবন নওফলের কাছে।
Then, gently but firmly, she gave him courage. She told him that Allah would never disgrace him, because he kept good ties with his relatives, carried the burdens of the weak, helped those in need, honoured his guests and stood by people in times of trouble. Afterwards she took him to her learned cousin, Waraqah ibn Nawfal.
ইসলামী ঐতিহ্যে খাদিজা (রা.)-কে সর্বপ্রথম ঈমান আনয়নকারী হিসেবে বিশেষভাবে স্মরণ করা হয়। নবুওতের শুরুর কঠিন দিনগুলোতে যখন অনেকে নবীজি (সা.)-কে অবিশ্বাস ও বিরোধিতা করছিল, তখন খাদিজা (রা.)-এর মানসিক ও আর্থিক সহায়তা ছিল খুব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। কষ্টের বছরগুলোতেও তিনি ধৈর্যের সঙ্গে পরিবারের পাশে ছিলেন।
Islamic tradition remembers Khadija with special honour as the very first person to believe. In the difficult early days of the Prophet’s mission, when many people disbelieved and opposed him, her emotional and material support was enormously important. Even through years of hardship, she stood patiently by her family.
তিনি বুঝতেন, প্রিয় কাউকে সাহায্য করা মানে শুধু সুন্দর কথা বলা নয়। কখনও মন দিয়ে শোনা, কখনও সাহস দেওয়া, আবার কখনও নিজের সম্পদ ও সময় দিয়ে পাশে দাঁড়ানো প্রয়োজন।
She understood that helping someone we love is more than saying kind words. Sometimes it means listening carefully, sometimes giving courage, and sometimes offering our own time and wealth so that they do not face hardship alone.
খাদিজা (রা.)-এর ইন্তেকালের পরও নবীজি (সা.) তাঁকে গভীর ভালোবাসায় স্মরণ করতেন। আয়েশা (রা.) বর্ণনা করেছেন, নবীজি (সা.) প্রায়ই খাদিজা (রা.)-এর কথা বলতেন, এমনকি তাঁর বান্ধবীদের কাছেও উপহার পাঠাতেন।
Even after Khadija passed away, the Prophet remembered her with deep love. Aishah (RA) related that he often spoke of Khadija and would even send gifts to her friends.
খাদিজা (রা.)-এর জীবন আমাদের শেখায়—ভালোবাসা ও বিশ্বাস কাজের মাধ্যমে প্রকাশ পায়। পরিবার বা বন্ধুর কেউ ভয় বা দুশ্চিন্তায় থাকলে তাকে মন দিয়ে শোনা, সাহস দেওয়া এবং সৎ কাজে সহযোগিতা করা বড় গুণ।
Khadija’s life teaches us that love and trust show themselves through actions. When a family member or friend is afraid or worried, listening to them, encouraging them and supporting them in what is right is a great virtue.
