মুসা (আ.) বড় হয়ে শক্তিশালী ও জ্ঞানী যুবক হয়ে উঠলেন। একদিন শহরের দূর প্রান্ত থেকে এক লোক ছুটে এসে বলল, “হে মুসা, নেতারা তোমার বড় ক্ষতি করার পরামর্শ করছে। তুমি এখনই শহর ছেড়ে চলে যাও। আমি সত্যিই তোমার শুভাকাঙ্ক্ষী।”
Musa (AS) grew up to be a strong and wise young man. One day a man came running from the far end of the city and said, “O Musa, the leaders are plotting to do you great harm. Leave the city at once. I truly wish you well.”
মুসা (আ.) ভয় আর সতর্কতা নিয়ে মিসর ছেড়ে বেরিয়ে পড়লেন। তিনি দোয়া করলেন, “হে আমার রব, আমাকে জালিম লোকদের হাত থেকে রক্ষা করুন।” তারপর মাদইয়ানের দিকে মুখ করে বললেন, “আশা করি আমার রব আমাকে সঠিক পথ দেখাবেন।”
Musa (AS) left Egypt, fearful and watchful. He prayed, “My Lord, save me from the wrongdoing people.” Then, turning towards Madyan, he said, “I hope my Lord will guide me to the right path.”
পথ ছিল লম্বা আর অচেনা। দিনের বেলা মরুভূমির গরম বালু, রাতে ঠান্ডা বাতাস। সঙ্গে টাকা নেই, খাবারও নেই। দিনের পর দিন হেঁটে মুসা (আ.) ক্লান্ত আর ক্ষুধার্ত হয়ে পড়লেন, তবু আল্লাহর ওপর ভরসা হারালেন না।
The road was long and unfamiliar. By day there was hot desert sand; by night, a cold wind. He had no money and no food. After walking day after day, Musa (AS) grew tired and hungry, yet he never lost his trust in Allah.
অবশেষে তিনি মাদইয়ানে পৌঁছালেন। একটি কূপের পাশে অনেক রাখাল ভিড় করে তাদের পশুদের পানি খাওয়াচ্ছে। আর একটু দূরে দুই তরুণী নিজেদের ভেড়ার পাল আগলে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে। মুসা (আ.) তাঁদের জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, “তোমাদের কী ব্যাপার?” তাঁরা বললেন, “রাখালেরা তাদের পশু সরিয়ে না নেওয়া পর্যন্ত আমরা পানি খাওয়াতে পারি না। আর আমাদের বাবা খুব বৃদ্ধ।”
At last he reached Madyan. Beside a well, a crowd of shepherds was watering their animals. A little way off, two young women stood holding back their flock of sheep. Musa (AS) asked them, “What is the matter?” They said, “We cannot water our animals until the shepherds take theirs away. And our father is a very old man.”
ক্লান্ত থাকা সত্ত্বেও মুসা (আ.) এগিয়ে গিয়ে তাঁদের পশুগুলোকে পানি খাওয়িয়ে দিলেন। বিনিময়ে কিছুই চাইলেন না। তারপর একটু ছায়ায় গিয়ে বসলেন এবং দোয়া করলেন, “হে আমার রব, আপনি আমার প্রতি যে কল্যাণই পাঠাবেন, আমি তার মুখাপেক্ষী।”
Tired as he was, Musa (AS) stepped forward and watered their animals for them. He asked for nothing in return. Then he went to sit in a patch of shade and prayed, “My Lord, I am truly in need of whatever good You send down to me.”
কিছুক্ষণ পরেই দুই বোনের একজন লাজুক ভঙ্গিতে হেঁটে এসে বললেন, “আমার বাবা আপনাকে ডাকছেন, যাতে আমাদের পশুকে পানি খাওয়ানোর জন্য আপনাকে প্রতিদান দিতে পারেন।” মুসা (আ.) গিয়ে বৃদ্ধকে নিজের সব কথা খুলে বললেন। বৃদ্ধ বললেন, “ভয় পেয়ো না। তুমি জালিম লোকদের হাত থেকে বেঁচে গেছ।”
Soon one of the two sisters came walking shyly and said, “My father is calling you, so that he can reward you for watering our animals.” Musa (AS) went and told the old man his whole story. The old man said, “Do not be afraid. You have escaped from the wrongdoing people.”
তখন এক মেয়ে বললেন, “আব্বা, তাঁকে কাজে রাখুন। যাকে কাজে রাখবেন, তার মধ্যে সেই সবচেয়ে ভালো, যে শক্তিশালী ও বিশ্বস্ত।” বৃদ্ধ মুসা (আ.)-কে প্রস্তাব দিলেন—আট বছর তাঁর কাজ করলে তিনি তাঁর এক মেয়েকে মুসা (আ.)-এর সঙ্গে বিয়ে দেবেন, আর ইচ্ছে হলে দশ বছর পূর্ণ করতে পারেন। মুসা (আ.) রাজি হলেন এবং বললেন, “আমরা যা বলছি, আল্লাহ তার সাক্ষী।” এভাবে তিনি পেলেন নিরাপদ আশ্রয়, পরিবার আর নতুন জীবন।
Then one of the daughters said, “Father, hire him. The best one to hire is someone strong and trustworthy.” The old man made Musa (AS) an offer: if he worked for him for eight years, he would give him one of his daughters in marriage—and if he wished, he could complete ten. Musa (AS) agreed and said, “Allah is witness to what we say.” In this way he found a safe home, a family and a new life.
নিজে কষ্টে থাকলেও সুযোগ পেলে অন্যকে সাহায্য করা সুন্দর মনের পরিচয়। আর প্রতিদান না চেয়ে করা একটি ভালো কাজ কখনো কখনো জীবনের নতুন দরজা খুলে দেয়।
Helping others when we get the chance, even when we are struggling ourselves, shows a beautiful heart. And a good deed done without expecting anything in return can sometimes open a new door in life.
